I’ve Been Memed!

It’s a blog entry! But thanks to Kimba from On the Road, I got tagged with a ROAR for powerful words award.  However, it’s really her other blogs, Open Book and Cranky Buddhist that I read more.  Anyway, the Shameless Lions Writing Circle started this: “A Roar for Powerful Words is the chance to scream from the mountains the good news about the powerful posts that are produced every day in the blogsphere, despite what some mainstream columnists and journalists claim.”

The rules are:

1. List 3 writing tips

2. Pass the award on to 3 more bloggers.

So thank you, Kimba! And here goes.

My 3 writing tips are this:

1. Live passionately. Enjoy what life brings your way and it will reflect in your writing.

2. Appreciate the muse when she shows up but don’t count on her. The muse is a fickle lady. Write every day whether you’re inspired or not.

3. Cultivate a sense of the absurd. Don’t take yourself too seriously as a writer or a person. Learn to laugh at yourself. If you don’t, rest assured, everyone else will.

Here are three blogs I like to check in on (and they probably don’t even know I’ve been lurking around):

1. Green Gabbro: Geology. Feminism. And other stuff about the earth and earth sciences. Venice is sinking!

2. 3:40 a.m.: Zen-inspired insomniac musings and other words of wisdom. Good middle-of-the-night reading.

3. Philip Carr-Gomm’s Weblog: A druid, a writer, great thoughts on the spiritual life and some posts some really good poetry.

Enjoy!
